Shelby Vaver
Senior Paralegal
Shelby Vaver is a Tacoma native whose longstanding connection to the South Sound community informs both a personal and professional commitment to serving the region. Shelby graduated from Curtis High School, where Shelby was a two-sport athlete and served as captain of both the soccer and track teams during senior year. Shelby went on to attend the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and double minors in Environmental Studies and Criminal Justice. Shelby subsequently earned a Juris Doctorate from Lewis & Clark Law School.
During law school, Shelby remained actively engaged in leadership, student advocacy, and community service. Shelby served as a member of the Student Health Advisory Board and as Co-Chair of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Shelby was also recognized through the Community Service Program for completing more than 30 hours of volunteer service, reflecting a continued commitment to contributing to the community beyond the classroom and courtroom.
A lifelong soccer player, Shelby began playing competitively with WPFC and went on to compete at the Division III, Division I, and semi-professional levels. Shelby continues to give back to the sport by coaching girls soccer for Sparta. Soccer has remained an important part of Shelby’s life, cultivating a strong appreciation for preparation, perseverance, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence, qualities Shelby carries into every aspect of the practice of law.
